ARNED-CELA AGENCIES was founded in 1992 under the name Cela Shipping, as a private owned company by Eric Vrolijk and Chris Langeslag. Both of them gained at that moment already a very outstanding reputation throughout the maritime industry and joined their forces in the port of Antwerp. Soon it was clear this would be a successtory as a steady growth in the number of agencies became visible over the years.

In 1998, Eric Vrolijk took over the shares of the company after Chris Langeslag decided to retire in that same year. With Eric Vrolijk as the only ‘captain’ in control over the company, business made a steady progress resulting in a expansion of the business where he changed the company from a 100% so called tanker-agency, into a company which not only was handling tankers, but also started to serve dry-bulk vessels, container-vessels, roro vessels and heavy-lift carriers.

This made the scope of business much wider than before and resulted in record breaking times, where each year over the last 3 years over 900 vessels were being handled in the agency department. In order to secure the future and the continuous growth throughout the coming years, the company was looking for an active partner in the so called ARA-range were know-how and experience could be shared.

This resulted in the take over of the majority of the shares in 2004 by ARNED AGENCIES bv, resulting in a cooperation were the entire ARA range could be served. A next logical step was the joint naming of both the offices in Antwerp and Rotterdam where it has been decided to change the original names into ARNED-CELA AGENCIES.

Today our offices located in Belgium and the Netherlands are in a perfect position to handle all kinds of ship-agencies in all ports of the said countries.
